CYCLONE AMPHAN
Super Cyclonic Storm Amphan was a powerful and deadly tropical cyclone that caused widespread damage in Eastern India and Bangladesh in May 2020. It was the strongest tropical cyclone to strike the Ganges Delta since Sidr of the 2007 season and the first super cyclonic storm to occur in the Bay of Bengal since the 1999 Odisha cyclone. Causing over US$13 billion of damage, Amphan is also the costliest cyclone ever recorded in the North Indian Ocean, surpassing the record held by Cyclone Nargis of 2008.
The aftermath of cyclone Amphan is devastating. At least 83,000 homes destroyed in a single city, and thousands of people have lost their houses, several lost their lives, including volunteers helping the affected people all over Bangladesh. Besides, several dams have broken causing a flood in the southern part of Bangladesh.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were already in an economic crisis. For this reason, we have decided to help the people in need by providing dry food along with other essential items, developing houses, toilets, tubewell, etc. We request your support to fight against this crisis.
